The Mirror ran a story this past Sunday that raised the eyes of more than a few Chelsea fans. The story (which most certainly isn't worth the time it takes to read, even though I've linked to it) had the following to say about Romelu Lukaku's loan situation:
"Sunday People Sport understands this season’s loan agreement contains a clause which will see him extend his time at The Hawthorns until 2014 and is triggered once he plays a certain number of games this campaign."
Steve Clarke was asked about this story today when he spoke to the media, and he was blunt enough with his answer that he left basically no room for interpretation:
"That is ridiculous. He is simply here on a season-long loan from Chelsea. Nothing else."
Combined with the comments from Lukaku earlier in the week, that should pretty much confirm that the Mirror article was utter rubbish. That really shouldn't come as a surprise, but I'm sure some people were still worked up over it even though it made little sense. Keep up the good work on loan Romelu, we're all eagerly anticipating getting you back over the summer.
