Do you really miss Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel? Do you want them back immediately? Well too bad! Nigeria were expected to go down against pre-tournament favourites Cote d'Ivoire in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals, but instead it was the Super Eagles who advanced in a 2-1 win courtesy of goals from Emmanuel Emenike and Sunday Mba.
Obviously, that's not great news for Chelsea. Mikel's absence has made our issues in midfield even more obvious, and Moses had been superb under Rafa Benitez. But even if Nigeria win the whole thing -- and they might, at this point -- it's only one day more with them gone* and I can't really get too annoyed about something that will make the players so happy. This is a huge opportunity for the pair, and I hope they can win. Good luck to them both.
*The semifinals will be played on Wednesday, and the third-place game will be on Saturday with the final on Sunday.
On a slightly different note, Kenneth Omeruo was absolutely magnificent at centre back for the Super Eagles. I know the loanee's been at right back for ADO Den Haag, but he'll be better served by moving to the centre.
