Stoke vs. Chelsea: Second half discussion

The Blues will need a second goal in order to win at The Britannia

Paul Thomas

Chelsea have had the Christmas spirit of late, gifting the opposition a lead in most of our recent matches. Andre Schurrle must not have gotten the memo, as his goal in the game's opening minutes didn't leave Mark Hughes with a smile on his face.

The Blues comfortably controlled the remainder of the first half, creating plenty of excellent chances that they'd be unable to finish. With only a few minutes remaining in the first half though, some poor set piece defending combined with a questionable decision from Petr Cech saw the contest leveled at 1-1.

With the way the game has gone thus far, there's little reason to believe that Chelsea won't have opportunities. They really need to start making the most of them though, and the sooner the better.
