Mourinho: Eto'o fit again, but David Luiz remains out

Clive Rose

It's injury update time again. Jose Mourinho's been talking ahead of the Stoke City match, and the manager has revealed that Samuel Eto'o is available to take on the Potters, and my guess is that he'll start after a disappointing showing from Fernando Torres. Oscar's doing better too, although Mourinho hasn't clarified whether he'll be fit enough to play or if he'd be selected should he be given the all clear. There's one major name missing from the good-news list, though: David Luiz remains absent with a knee injury.

We still don't have a real estimate for David Luiz's return, and that's a little bit worrying considering the centre back pairing of Gary Cahill and John Terry aren't getting any rotation at all during an intense phase of the schedule. Perhaps we'll start seeing the likes of Tomas Kalas or Kenneth Omeruo if this continues. But I can't imagine that the defender will be out for too much longer -- if the injury was that serious we'd surely have been told rather than getting these game-by-game updates.
