Spurs & Lukaku / Milan Derby / Cavani vs. Kalou / Sunday hot buttered rum / Open Thread

Ben Hoskins

Let's just say there are few things more awkward than a sexy Santa party with coworkers and tons of alcohol - and that's before you have to be the one sober designated driver.

Hopefully I can cleanse my eyeballs with some lovely footy on this pre-Christmas Sunday. Got my presents all wrapped; now it's time to sit back with some hot buttered rum, Irish coffee, or whatever else may be handy at the moment, kick my feet up and relax. Tomorrow is for worrying and heart attacks, today is for enjoying the action across England and Europe.

First up, we have Southampton vs. Tottenham Hotspur (8:30am EST): two sides who had been flying high not so long ago but now find themselves on the verge of falling out of top four contention. The hosts are winless in five - unsurprising given that they faced Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, and Newcastle in that stretch. The visitors have lost just six times all season but four of those, including the last two in a row, came at home. AVB may be gone, but the problems have probably remained just the same. With both sides needing a win, somebody's guaranteed to come away disappointed.

The second match in the Premier League is solidly midtable Swansea vs. solidly challenging Everton (11am EST). I didn't realize this but Everton have lost only once all season. ONCE! No other team has less than three. Yet due to the highest number of draws in the league, Roberto Martinez's side sit just fifth.

Elsewhere, we have the Milan Derby in the Serie A (2:45pm EST) and a top of the table clash in France as leaders PSG host Lille (3pm). Eden Hazard's ex club have been doing surprisingly well and are up to third following last weekend's Kalou brace-fired win.
