No, I'm not going to link the Guardian's best 100 footballers list. If you want to see a website trading credibility for clicks, we can't stop you, but take it from me that reading the thirty names that have come out so far is not a particularly worthwhile endeavour.
What I am going to do is criticise it, because it has Eden Hazard at #100 (which, hilariously, is not its greatest sin, merely the most relevant to a Chelsea blog). From 99-71, three other Blues appear: Branislav Ivanovic, Frank Lampard, and Samuel Eto'o. We also have the likes of Asmir Begovic, Michu, Shinji Kagawa and a 30-year-old attacking midfielder with zero caps for Argentina.
This isn't the Guardian simply stirring up the pot -- you can do that without being woefully* incompetent**. This is a much sadder thing to behold; a formerly respected paper that no longer has any idea how to cover football having a convulsive fit just before it dies.
*Javi Martinez #99
*Isco #94
It won't be missed.
