We're approaching the most crowded part of the fixture list for many of Chelsea's youngsters, specifically the group on loan domestically. A good number of these loans are due to expire in January, so for many it's a last chance to impress before the club needs to make a decision. Here's what they've done over the past week:
- Romelu Lukaku (Everton) - The Belgian continued to look impressive this week, going the full 90 minutes and recording an assist in Everton's 4-1 thrashing of Fulham. I don't know if this has been said already, but he's pretty good.
- Victor Moses (Liverpool) - Moses was a stoppage time substitute during Liverpool's tribute to AVB, and wasn't on the pitch long enough to do anything of note.
- Nathaniel Chalobah (Nottingham Forest) - Chalobah finally got 90 minutes for Forest, though he was pulled in stoppage time during the scoreless draw. It wasn't a standout performance from the youngster, but it certainly wasn't bad either. I'd imagine he'll continue to see minutes during the busy holiday period, but I find it hard to imagine that Chelsea will even consider extending his spell on loan.
- Josh McEachran (Watford) - It was a rough week for Josh McEachran. While he was healthy enough to make an appearance on the Watford bench, he wasn't used in that game. Shortly after the game we had the resignation of Gianfranco Zola, which will leave his role with Watford in doubt. Luckily for Josh, his loan is set to expire in early January should he find himself out of the rotation.
- Todd Kane (Blackburn Rovers) - Kane has been one of the most consistent players of all the Chelsea youngsters on loan, but was an unused substitute this past weekend against Millwall.
- Patrick Bamford (MK Dons) - Bamford doesn't look like he'll hit 20 goals before Christmas, as he only managed to find the back of the net once against Wolverhampton. What a bum.
- George Saville (Brentford) - Saville continued to see regular minutes, playing just over 80 minutes this past weekend.
- Sam Walker (Colchester United) - Walker was on the wrong end of a 4-0 thrashing last weekend, but the consensus seems to be that he really couldn't have done anything about any of the goals. At least it was only four goals that got by him in the rout, wouldn't you agree Wojciech?
- Milan Lalkovic (Walsall) - Lalkovic continued his recent run of excellent form, netting the only goal in Walsall's 1-0 victory over Shrewsbury.
