Most of you are going to watch some football today, so we're going to give you a place to discuss what you're seeing. Here are the Champions League games you've got to choose from today, and what each club would like to see:
Group A
Manchester United vs. Shakhtar Donetsk
Real Sociedad vs. Bayer Leverkusen
Manchester United are definitely through, while Real Sociedad are guaranteed to finish last. A Shakhtar win today would see them finish atop the group with United finishing second, Any other result in that one would see United top the group.
Bayer Leverkusen have a chance to go through as well, though they need Shakhtar to drop points in order to do so. They hold the tiebreaker with the Ukrainian side, so any combination of results which results in them being level or ahead of them will see the Germans advance to the knockout round. Whichever of Shakhtar or Bayer do not advance will join Tottenham in the Europa League.
Group B
FC Copenhagen vs. Real Madrid
Galatasaray vs. Juventus
Real Madrid have won Group B, so today means nothing to them. Either Juventus or Galatasaray could still finish second, while the best Copenhagen could do would be a third place finish.
For Drogba and Galatasaray, they need a win over Juventus to stay alive in the Champions League. A draw today is enough to see Juventus through, so I'd expect them to play a very conservative game on the road. Copenhagen don't hold the tiebreaker against anyone, so any chance they have at joining the Europa League rests on finishing with more points than either Galatasaray or Juventus.
Group C
Benfica vs. PSG
Olympiakos vs. Anderlecht
Group C is pretty straightforward. PSG have won the group, Anderlecht will finish last. Benfica and Olympiakos are currently level on points, and Olympiakos owns the tiebreaker. To stay in the Champions League, Benfica need to earn more points than Olympiakos today.
Group D
Bayern Munich vs. Manchester City
Viktoria Plzen vs. CSKA Moscow
City and Bayern are guaranteed to go through, though either side could still win the group. For City to win the group, they need to beat Bayern in Munich today, and by more than one goal. Any victory by three or more goals would win City the group, while any two goal victory in which they score four or more away goals will also do the job. Any other result would see the reigning European champs top the group.
Both Plzen and CSKA can still finish third, but Plzen must win in order to do so. Plzen are in relatively good shape if they can win, as they scored a pair of away goals during the 3-2 loss in Russia. Any victory by more that one goal will see them join the Europa League, and any one-goal victory in which CSKA don't score two or more will do the trick as well.
