Eden Hazard has been a regular in the Chelsea starting eleven this season, so his exclusion from the matchday squad today certainly raised some eyebrows. Surely then, the player must have been sick or injured if Jose Mourinho wasn't going to even have him dress. Not so, says Mourinho:
Mourinho over #Hazard: "I don't want to lie. He s not injured. He forgot the time. Kids make mistakes. Fathers have to be clever."

Mourinho went on to confirm that the Belgian will be back in the squad for Saturday, so it appears this was simply one-time discipline for the player being late. I'm glad to see Mourinho putting the foot down early on, making it clear that our best players won't be given any sort of special treatment or longer leash. Now get to training on time for the rest of the week Eden, and make sure to remind the manager why he was picking you for every match on Saturday.
