Chelsea Continental Loan Roundup: November 29, 2013

It was another fantastic week for the Blues on loan throughout Europe

Stanley Chou

We can never have enough goals to talk about in our loan roundups, so it's nice to see a second straight day where we're talking about multiple loanees who found the back of the net. Lucas Piazon, Thorgan Hazard, and Gael Kakuta headline another very impressive week for Chelsea's kids on loan abroad.

  • Thibaut Courtois (Atletico Madrid) - Courtois had a typical performance over the weekend, keeping another clean sheet in a relatively boring 7-0 game. He was tested a bit more midweek when Atletico traveled to Russia, and had an Almunia-esque moment to forget in the 1-1 draw.

  • Marko Marin (Sevilla) - Shockingly, Marko Marin is still out while taking a bit longer than anticipated to recover from injury.
  • Oriol Romeu (Valencia) - Romeu was unused over the weekend in yet another Valencia loss, but started and had his best game of this loan midweek against Swansea City. Here's hoping that excellent performance is a sign of things to come, as it was the closest I've seen him come to his AVB era form.
  • Matej Delac (FK Vojvodina) - Delac picked up an injury on international duty, and had this week off because of it.
  • Lucas Piazon (Vitesse Arnhem) - Piazon had a pair of goals from the penalty spot this weekend as Vitesse remained atop the Eredivisie table. He also received some praise from the Dutch media as the best Eredivisie signing of the summer.

  • Stipe Perica (NAC Breda) - Perica came on for the final 30 minutes af NAC Breda's 5-2 loss this weekend, and showed flashes of his potential in the process. He's still a very raw talent though, and his lack of polish really showed in the speed of his decision making.
  • Wallace (Inter Milan) - Wallace's agent came out with some quotes this week that the player is enjoying his loan spell at Inter, but he's still not getting any real time on the pitch. His situation will be interesting to watch as the next two months play out, as I'm sure the Blues would be thrilled to see him move if he's not as happy as his agent is leading us to believe.
  • Thorgan Hazard (Zulte Waregem) - Hazard had a pair of solid outings this week, looking good in a 3-1 victory over the weekend before finding the back of the net in Zulte's victory over Wigan Athletic on Thursday.

  • Ulises Davila (Cordoba) - Davila had a hat trick for Cordoba over the international break, and was rewarded with another start this past weekend. Unfortunately for the young Mexican, it was a much less eventful performance in the 3-1 loss.
