We're getting towards transfer season (one month away!), and the rumours have already been flying around. The biggest name that Chelsea have been linked to so far is Porto forward Jackson Martinez, whose agent had reportedly been in London meeting with the club this week. In today's press conference, Jose Mourinho was asked about the prospect of luring Martinez to the club, and he came back with a strong denial that the club was in for a striker:
"What about Jackson Martinez?" "The Porto striker? It's not true what I read a couple of days ago that agent was meeting me."

Mourinho: "In January market we are not going to buy any striker, we go to the end of the season with Fernando, Samuel and Demba Ba."

The manager also strongly denied that he'd be looking at picking up Real Madrid left back Fabio Coentrao on loan in January. Remember that it's entirely possible that Mourinho is lying here -- it certainly wouldn't be the first time a manager tries to mislead the media over transfer deals -- but don't be hugely shocked if the winter window was all quiet on the striker front.
