The 1-0 defeat at Basel wasn't just embarrassing. Injury was added to insult when Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o was stretchered off midway through the first half, forcing Fernando Torres into an earlier introduction than anyone might have anticipated. Eto'o has just begun to settle in to life at Stamford Bridge, integrating well with the rest of the attacking players after a more difficult start and scoring a couple of key goals, so losing him now is basically the last thing anyone wants.
Fortunately, his injury doesn't sound quite as bad as it looked on Tuesday. Jose Mourinho has revealed that the striker has a grade 1 muscular injury and he'll be missing for around two weeks. That's significant, of course, but nothing to get too worked up about. David Luiz, meanwhile, has recovered from the problem that ruled him out of the Basel trip but won't be ready to face Southampton on Sunday. Other than those two and Marco van Ginkel, it sounds like we'll have a clean bill of health.
