Wednesday Cup Football Open Thread

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Chelsea already advanced yesterday, so it's time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the rest of the Capital One Cup action on tap.

Our second favorite André and his Spurs get to experience Wednesday night football for a bit as they host Hull City. Wait, again? Well aren't they just the lucky bunnies! Maybe this time they'll score some goals from open play even. At the same time, Newcastle and Manchester City face each other in a Battle for the North. I believe it's the latter that's been picked for TV (Sky Sports 1 & beIN Sport).

Other televised matches that might pique your interest include Serie A clashes Fiorentina vs. Napoli and Milan vs. Lazio, while in Spain Real Madrid host Sevilla for whom Marko Marin is still injured unfortunately.

Speaking of Chelsea loanees, Vitesse play lower league opposition in the Dutch FA Cup. Unfortunately, I do not think there's any way to watch this one, as intriguing as it may be to catch some of the lesser lights of Chelsea B in action.

Later tonight, at 7:30pm PDT (NBCSN), the Seattle Sounders play the Colorado Rapids in the first round of the MLS Playoffs. Before you scoff, realize that the Sounders averaged a higher home attendance than a sold out Stamford Bridge. This is going to be a cracker, as they say - plus, the stadium will be fully open, which means an attendance of 60k+ is expected - as Seattle and the Deuce look to rediscover their scintillating mid-season form and advance to the semifinals vs. Portland.

Discuss.
