Patrick Bamford hopes he's catching Jose Mourinho's attention

The on loan striker is hoping he's doing enough to earn a shot at Stamford Bridge

Patrick Bamford has been tearing up League 1, having already scored a dozen goals this season. That total is currently the highest in England, and he'll be looking to add to that this weekend.

Bamford's loan spell is up in January, and the young striker is hoping that he's doing enough to earn a shot at Chelsea later this season. Here's what the former Nottingham Forest player had to say on the subject:

"If I did, say, get 20 goals before Christmas, which is some way off, I am on 12, then maybe Mourinho might have a look and give me a few goes on the bench but if not I just want to push on."

Bamford also had some comments about a Chelsea player helping him out with his physical play, and frankly, I was a bit surprised by who it was:

"Fernando Torres helped me out. I was going through a tough patch at the start of the seasons and the U21 manager [Dermot Drummy] just said go speak to him. I was a bit nervous and to be fair he was really good with holding the ball up and stuff like that."

I'm not sure that Bamford is going to be ready to suit up for the Blues in January, but he's certainly ready for a tougher test than he's getting at the moment in League 1. Here's hoping he keeps that ridiculous form up for the better part of the next month, and makes the decision on where to send him next very difficult for the decision makers at Chelsea.
