Wednesday Champions League Open Thread

Laurence Griffiths

It's a most wonderful time of the year.  Football is in full swing, with matches on the weekends, on Mondays, Champions League on Tuesdays & Wednesdays, Europa League on Thursdays, and even a few interesting ones on Fridays.  Add in the NFL, college football, and now the NHL as well and it's sports nirvana.

The big one today is Bayern Munich vs. Manchester City, although the other Manchester's visit to Shakhtar Donetsk could be interesting as well.  The Ukrainian team may have lost a few key Brazilians, but they have reloaded with several more (hi Bernard; hi Wellington Nem!) and could still pose a potent challenge to further the CRISIS in Moyesyland.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid & PSG have it easy while Juventus meet the Didier Drogbas of Turkey who are now led by none other than Roberto Mancini.  I like the stylish Italian, probably more so than most, so I think it's cool that he gets to be back in the saddle so soon.

Also, this happened in the early match today, CSKA Moscow vs. Viktoria Plzen.  I think the technical term for this is whoopsadaisy.
