Since the nicknames line up so well, I propose the following challenge:
(Philadelphia) Eagles vs. (Super) Eagles and (Detroit) Lions vs. (Indomitable) Lions. Two legged match, with the teams playing their own version of football in their home fixtures. Scores aggregate with one football goal worth one football touchdown (i.e. six points). Who would win?
---
Following first leg wins yesterday for Burkina Faso (assuming the rumors of Prejuce Nakoulma's ineligibility prove false) and Ivory Coast (Drogba, Kalou both scored), the Chelsea boys of Nigeria and Cameroon hope to follow similar paths. Ethiopia vs. Nigeria kicks off at 8:45am EDT, while Tunisia vs. Cameroon follows at 12:45pm EDT. Both matches are live on BT Sport 2 in the UK and beIN Sport in the USA.
Later, there's a fun MLS match if you're feeling desperate for football in a league setting. Portland vs. Seattle, a Pacific Northwest classic rivalry, kicks off at 6pm PDT, live on ESPN (USA) and BT Sport 1 (UK). Just one point separates the two teams as they look to take over the top spot in the Western Conference from Salt Lake City. Seattle were sitting pretty for a while, but are suddenly winless in four and have shipped nine (9!!) goals in their last two matches.
Discuss.
