What we probably should be talking about is Lionel Messi's choice of tuxedo. Actually, we should be talking about Petr Cech not unseating Iker Casillas as the best goalkeeper in world football. There will be more on that later, though.
For now, we'll bypass that tragedy in favor of more upbeat news - specifically Miroslav Stoch capturing the 2012 Puskas Award for goal of the season.
It's a well deserved award for the former Chelsea player. In early March, the 23-year-old latched onto a corner kick floated just outside the penalty area and sent a looping right-footed strike into the top right corner of the net. Unstoppable.
Stoch's superb volley against Genclerbirligi on March 3 beat out Falcao's audacious overhead kick against América de Cali on May 19 and Neymar's sensational slalom against Internacional on March 7 for the award.
