Just a bit of cold FA Cup 3rd Round Magic leftovers / Sunday Open Thread

Chelsea have punched their ticket into the 4th Round of the FA Chelsea Cup with yesterday's slow-starting yet eventually rather emphatic demolition of Southampton. Many other Premier League sides did not fare as well. Here are three more of them, before the draw for the next round.

So it'll be Swansea City vs. Arsenal at 8:30 A.M. EST, followed by Mansfield Town vs. Liverpool at 11:00 A.M. EST. The draw for the 4th round will be made ahead of the Liverpool match. Incidentally, the other major team in Liverpool won't even get to play their 3rd round until Monday!

As far as yesterday's action, there were two giant-killings: non-league Macclesfield downed the The Championship's best (and last year's beaten League Cup finalist) Cardiff City while Conference side Luton Town shocked Wolverhampton Wanderers (although we saw the Wolves at Stamford Bridge earlier this season in the League Cup and it sure was not pretty). Wolves have subsequently sacked their manager, ex-Norwegian international Stale Solbakken. His tenure was shorter than Di Matteo's. Wolves are ruining football!

Newcastle have the distinct honor to have joined Southampton on the sidelines as the only two Premier League teams eliminated so far, although Fulham, Wigan, Manchester United, West Ham (and a certain Joe Cole!), Stoke, QPR, WBA, Sunderland (quite a few of them facing each other) all will have a replay to contend with.

Discuss.
