The BBC are reporting that Chelsea have reached an agreement with U18 player Connor Hunte to see him remain with Chelsea. He's reportedly agreed to a three and a half year deal that will likely see him stay at the club long enough to make an impact at the U21 level and see a loan spell or two.
This is good news, as it's always nice to hear that the club are keeping their prospects around long enough to see what they've got with them. I find some of the reporting to that's gone on with Hunte to be a bit ridiculous though, as describing him as one of the best young prospects in the game is absolutely ludicrous. He's a nice young player, but he's not the same type of prospect right now as Jeremie Boga, Islam Feruz, or Nathaniel Chalobah that have been excelling at levels well above their age groups.* He could certainly develop into a Chelsea caliber player, but he's a long way away at this point.
*What's even more amusing is that I've yet to see a report that has manged to spell his name correctly. It's "Connor" according to everything Chelsea have ever published, yet every single tabloid seems to insist on spelling it "Conor".
Hunte will continue to play a part for the U18 and U19 sides this season, and will likely be a key part of the upcoming FA Youth Cup run. The U18 schedule for the second half of the season has also been released, and can be found here.
