Chelsea have announced a tentative make up date for their game with Southampton that had been postponed, it will be kicking off on Wednesday, January 16, 2013. Game time has been set for 7:45 PM London time at Stamford Bridge.
The game was originally scheduled to be played in December, but was postponed due to Chelsea's involvement in the 2012 Club World Cup. We've been playing with at least one game in hand since that point, but that should be coming to an end soon.
Should Chelsea and Southampton play to a draw this weekend in their FA Cup tie, a replay at Stamford Bridge would be in order. That replay would be scheduled for that same general time, so it would likely force the Premier League fixture to be postponed for a second time this season. If there wasn't already plenty of reason to want to see Saturday's game end up with one side getting a result, this just adds more.
Unfortunately for Chelsea, this game will now fall during the time that John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses are both away for the African Cup of Nations, meaning that Chelsea will be a bit shorthanded for the tie. Luckily though, we can now pencil in Demba Ba.
