Ben Gordon has had an interesting go of it since joining Chelsea from Leeds in 2007. He showed flashes of potential in his time with the Chelsea youth and reserves, but was frequently overshadowed by a pair of other left backs in Patrick van Aanholt and Ryan Bertrand.
Gordon has had a pair of very successful loan spells a Kilmarnock, and a host of far less successful loan spells in England such as his most recent spell at Birmingham City. Reports are now circulating that Gordon and Chelsea have agreed to part ways, with Chelsea agreeing to release the youngster and make him a free agent. Unsurprisingly, the rumor also links Gordon to a permanent move back to Killie.
This seems like a classy move from the club, allowing Gordon to pursue a career without haggling over when would be a transfer fee of next to nothing. It also seems like a great opportunity for Gordon to establish some consistency, as he's never really had much success at any of his other temporary clubs.
