Arrest after Demba Ba racial abuse probe

How could you abuse a man with that smile?
How could you abuse a man with that smile?

Why can't we go so much as a week without something unsavoury happening around Chelsea? Fortunately, it's nothing the club in a bad light this time. Unfortunately, it involves one of our players being racially abused, and that's never a good thing.

The BBC is reporting that a man has been arrested for racially-aggravated harrassment after making public comments on Facebook (they also say 'a football forum') about Demba Ba, and the police have confirmed that a 39-year-old has been taken in and then bailed over the incident.

Police received a complaint about an offensive message posted on Facebook earlier this month.

A 39-year-old Gateshead man has been arrested on suspicion of racially-aggravated harassment and has been bailed pending further inquiries.

I don't really understand why anyone would have a problem with Demba Ba -- he seems pretty snuggly and wonderful to me (if you're offended by Demba Ba, please don't share your opinions here), but it's interesting that writing on Facebook is enough to get you in trouble with the law these days. Maybe this will serve as a reminder not to be mean on the internet.
