Chelsea duo make it to Cup of Nations quarterfinals

Gallo Images

Chelsea will be without Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel for a little while longer thanks to the former's heroics at the Africa Cup of Nations against Ethiopia. Nigeria had been on the verge of elimination after blowing late leads in both of their first two matches, and they were looking fairly impotent against the Walya Antelopes for most of the match.

Then Moses got himself involved, winning two penalties, getting the goalkeeper sent off, then scoring both to guide the Super Eagles to a 2-0 win and a runners-up place in Group C. That means that the duo will be unavailable to Chelsea until at least the quarterfinal stage, which is going to be held on Sunday, February 3rd (3 pm GMT, 10 am EST, 8:30 pm IST) against the Ivory Coast.

Yes, that means Kenneth Omeruo, Mikel and Moses against Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou. Chelsea present against Chelsea past -- worth watching even if you're not a huge fan of the tournament. Good luck to all four... although to be honest I think I'll be pulling for the Elephants in this one. We need our players back.
