There has been some speculation about the future of on loan Chelsea defender Jeffrey Bruma at HSV, but according to Bruma, the club have no interest in losing the player this spring. While he has been linked to Dutch clubs like PSV and Vitesse Arnhem, Bruma had the following quotes about Hamburg's intent to keep him:
"Our boss and our general manager have indicated to me that I will be here for a long time to come."
"They want me to pen a contract for several years. I needed to be very patient. I hope that I will be playing now and that I can take the chance."
"I need to play to develop, but of course I am delighted that a club like Hamburg wants to keep me."
HSV's interest in keeping the player does not mean that Chelsea won't still look for a new home for Bruma on loan, as I'm sure they'd want to assure that he sees as much time on the pitch as possible. With Michael Mancienne getting injured though, there is a good chance he will be seeing plenty of minutes at Hamburg.
While I'm not all that surprised that HSV would be interested in keeping a talented young defender, it will be an interesting situation to watch develop. Bruma's contract is set to expire at the end of the 2013/14 season, so a decision on his future will probably be coming in the next several months.
