Chelsea's Billy Clifford played for the U21 side yesterday, today we learned that he's heading out on loan for the next month. Clifford will be joining League One side Colchester United, and their manager had the following to say about the youngster:
"He is an exciting youngster with plenty of ability that we will benefit from in the coming weeks."
"He has been in Chelsea's first team squad on occasions already and I have been very impressed with what I've seen of him. I'm really glad that we have secured his services and I'm sure that he will add to the quality we already have in the squad."
Clifford will only be joining Colchester for one month, but there is always the possibility of extending that loan spell should he impress during his time there. He was one of our older prospects still at Cobham, and his game has a fair amount of polish to it. I'd fully expect to see him see regular minutes this month, and I could easily see him following in the footsteps of Todd Kane and jumping up a level at it's conclusion.
Best of luck on loan Billy, hopefully you settle in without a hitch.
