Revenge of the poo-pooed injury: John Terry ruled out of Tuesday's qualifier

File this one under the shockingly unsurprising: John Terry has been officially ruled out of Tuesday's World Cup qualifier between England and Ukraine with an ankle injury.

Following further treatment from the England medical staff today [Sunday 9 September], John Terry will not be available for the World Cup qualifier against Ukraine on Tuesday. Terry suffered an ankle injury in the game with Moldova, and has returned to his club.

Yes indeed, the injury that Hodgson called "obviously not very serious" has been obviously proven obviously serious, obviously enough. Poo-poo that, Roy!

Terry joins fellow injury victim Ashley Cole on the sidelines, which I'm guessing is actually located in Cobham. Presumably Gary Cahill will step in to fill Terry's spot, while Everton's Leighton Baines will get a second consecutive start for the Three Lions.

Here's hoping that JT and Ash both make a quick recovery. After the International break, the Chelsea schedule picks up significantly, with five matches in two weeks, including the opening Champions League group match versus visiting Juventus (Sep.19) and the first true test of the Premier League season away to Arsenal (Sep.29).
