Oscar had a heck of a game on Wednesday, scoring two goals and marking Andrea Pirlo completely out of the game for the vast majority of his time on the pitch. He had a few comments for the Chelsea website today, so naturally we decided to share. The full interview can be found here, and here's what Oscar had to say on that goal:
As soon as I made the first touch and I shot, I knew that the ball was going in
I've watched that thing a few times now, and I still can't believe what I saw. The ball just isn't supposed to do what it did. Here's the wonderful strike again in .gif form:
While it's looping over and over, just look at where Buffon was when Oscar fired that ball. He was perfectly positioned, reacted well, and still didn't have a prayer. I've seen a few posters on other sites talk about the luck of that ball to go in, but that's doing a massive discredit to Oscar. That was just a perfect shot, and it's going to find the back of the net 100 times out of 100.
At the end of the season, there's very little chance that this won't be looked at as one of the finest goals Chelsea scored. This is just one of those that the defense and goalkeeper could do nothing about, as there is just no way to defend a perfectly struck ball like Oscar played. Shots like that don't happen often, but when they do they tend to be memorable. Well done Oscar, you certainly look to be justifying the price Chelsea paid Internacional.
