With the loan of Sam Hutchinson to Nottingham Forest, most have assumed that it's merely a matter of time before we hear official word about the signing of Cesar Azpilicueta. There are some reports out of France that would suggest that a deal is very, very close. According to La Provence:
Everything has accelerated his last hours around the future of the Olympian side, Osasuna landed June 21, 2010. Side of London, this is Marina Granovskaia, personal assistant to Abramovich, who has taken the matter in hand. She is now with Michael Emenalo, technical director of the champions of Europe, to meet representatives of Azpi during the scheduled appointment earlier this afternoon.
To be fair, I have no idea how reliable a source La Provence have here. A quick scan of their archives tells me that they don't publish all that many silly transfer rumors though, so I'm a bit more inclined to believe they've got something than I am with many other publications. We'll have to wait and see I suppose, but at the moment things look very good if you want to see Azpi at the Bridge. Stay tuned...
