Nottingham Forest Have Interest In Sam Hutchinson

I couldn't find any photo of Sam Hutchinson, so I had to use this one of Mario Gomez instead.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, somewhere amongst the explosion that occured on Twitter yesterday after Arsenal confirmed that a fee had been agreed with Manchester United for the sale of Robin van Persie, I missed some interesting quotes from Nottingham Forest boss Sean O'Driscoll about Chelsea defender Sam Hutchinson.

'We are trying to see where the land lies with him [Hutchinson] and to make something happen, if we can.
He is certainly somebody we are interested in signing but we will have to see what happens.'

We haven't heard much about what direction Chelsea wants with it's heartwarming youth product, although the Mail is happy to operate under the unsourced assumption that Chelsea are keen for him to "get some games under his belt and make up for lost time." It'd be fairly surprising if Chelsea did sanction the loan of one of their only backups for the reckless Branislav Ivanovic at a time when Paulo Ferriera is the other viable option.

If the situation at right back were to change by the arrival of Azpilicueta, then I'd expect to see more traction on any mooted loan deal. In my eyes, Nottingham Forest is quite a good option for Hutch, as playing regular Championship matches fits nicely against where he is at in his career right now, taking into account his time out of the game. We'll be sure to bring you more news on this front as it breaks, provided that's not at a time where Spurs decide to finally sell Luka Modric.
