Report: Rio Ferdinand has already had his hearing with the FA

As Chelsea fans, many of us are waiting to hear when the FA schedules the John Terry hearing in regards to his comments during the QPR match last season. Some of us are also quite curios about how they will handle the Rio Ferdinand situation, as he tweeted some rather inappropriate remarks while the court system was dealing with that whole situation. If this report from the Guardian is correct, we may not be waiting on the Rio decision for much longer.

The Guardian can reveal Ferdinand's hearing took place in Manchester last Friday and, after three days of deliberations, the FA is likely to announce the verdict either on Wednesday afternoon or on Thursday.

While this is a big story, the decision of the FA will likely have little effect on the decision they come to about John Terry. What will be interesting, though, is what they do if they decide to punish Ferdinand for his comments. So far, the main comparable we have for the Terry charges are the Suarez decision from last season. There is a bit of difference in the 2 cases, as the FA noted that Suarez had repeatedly used the offensive term when they released their decision.

Terry is more like Rio in this regard. Both are accused of making a comment that is racially offensive, and both have allegedly done it only a single time. Assuming the FA finds Ferdinand guilty (and I'm not convinced of what they'll find), what they decide is appropriate discipline will be interesting indeed. it sounds like we'll find out soon, and we'll let you know when they release the decision.
