I'm still not sure that the Community Shield warrants a team news post, but I've got sixteen words down now so I'm committed. Anyway, Chelsea have almost a full squad available to them to take on defending Premier League champions Manchester City in a game that very clearly doesn't matter that much. They are, however, missing one Marko Marin, who apparently hasn't recovered from whatever sidelined him for the Brighton and Hove Albion debacle (why haven't heads rolled?!!??!one).

The club hasn't deigned to give us an update on what's actually keeping him out of action, so I'm assuming it's not too serious, but keep an eye on things -- Marin is coming off a season wracked by injury, and the health risks associated with him is one of the reasons that the Blues were able to get him for so cheap. Right now I am assuming that he has a case of nerves after Branislav Ivanovic looked at him all angry-like.

Oscar will probably not be featuring for Chelsea either on account of playing for Brazil in the Olympic gold medal game against Mexico on Saturday. Having him play game on back to back days would be harsh. If you're looking for a meaningful game involving a Chelsea player this weekend, I'd watch that one instead. This concludes the team news for a friendly that I don't care about. Real season soon? Please?
