Chelsea held a press conference today. No, it wasn't anything exciting - we didn't even get the official unveilings of Marko Marin and Eden Hazard, which was what most of use were expecting. Instead, it was Roberto di Matteo not saying a whole lot of anything. For example, here's his take on transfers:
I'm pretty happy with the team but we will look at the market and if there are any opportunities to improve the team then we will pursue it. It's not just a question of how much you spend but attracting the right players... I am not going to discuss our targets. Every time you say something the price goes up.
It's tempting to read into that as saying that Chelsea will/will not be making more moves in the market, but enh. It's fluff. Plus we already knew Chelsea were doing things in the transfer market, on account of them being busy doing things in the transfer market. If you saw the quotes and were worried, don't be. There's also some filler about Hazard and Marin (surprise! They're decent players!). Yawn.
The most interesting thing about the whole conference was the confirmation that Frank Lampard has recovered from the injury that kept him out of Euro 2012. That's something of a relief, since Lampard's at the sort of age where minor injuries have a habit of turning into major ones, and we'd be in trouble without him. There's no news on Gary Cahill, unfortunately.
