Daniel Sturridge talks about the Olympic games

Daniel Sturridge was a bit of a doubt in the buildup to the Olympic games after he contracted viral meningitis, but luckily he was able to join the Great Britain squad anyway. Danny had a few comments for the official site today as he prepares for a very important showdown with Uruguay tomorrow. Here's what he had to say about his health:

I am getting there but I am still not 100 per cent. Basically, I am a week behind the rest of the lads in terms of fitness because they had a week of pre-season when I was at my club. Also I have lost a bit of weight but I am getting fitter

He also had a few comments about that lovely little chip he had the other day

I pretty much knew what I was going to do after the first touch. I looked up to see if the keeper was off his line and went for it straight away. When you try something like that there is always a little doubt isn't there? You just hope it comes off.

Good stuff, and there's more in the linked article. Here's hoping that Danny continues to play well, as he's going to be an important part of Chelsea's season if we don't buy reinforcements in the middle of the attack. Stay healthy Danny, and hopefully you can show your best form against Edinson Cavani and Uruguay tomorrow.
