Mata and Romeu both included in Spain's 22 man Olympic squad

Spain cut their Olympic team roster down to 22 players today, and 2 Chelsea players were included in the group. Juan Mata informed us a little over a week ago that he's been told he'll be in the final squad, and young holder Oriol Romeu survived yet another cutdown in the squad's numbers. Spain will be including Javi Martinez, Jordi, Alba, and Juan Mata from the Euro 2012 winning side. They'll also be featuring Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea between the posts, ensuring that he won't be with United for most of the pre-season. Here's the complete squad:

Goalkeepers: De Gea (Manchester United), Robles (Atletico Madrid), Marino (Villarreal)

Defenders: Azpilicueta (Marseille), Alba (Valencia), Martinez (Athletic Bilbao), Dominguez (Borussia Moenchengladbach), Montoya (Barcelona), Botia (Sporting Gijon), San Jose (Athletic Bilbao), Martinez (Real Sociedad)

Midfielders: Thiago (Barcelona), Herrera (Athletic Bilbao), Koke (Atletico Madrid), Romeu (Chelsea), Isco (Malaga), Mata (Chelsea), Muniain (Athletic Bilbao)

Forwards: Adrian (Atletico Madrid), Vasquez (Espanyol), Tello (Barcelona), Rodrigo (Benfica)

Spain will still need to cut 4 players from the final squad, but with the way they've assembled it I'd guess that both Chelsea players are virtual locks. One cut will certainly be a keeper, and I'd guess at least a few will be defenders. We'll keep you posted as we hear more, but as of now it looks like Chelsea will be well represented at the London Olympics. Congratulations guys, you've earned it.
