Chelsea are linked to 17 year old Oliver Torres

The Daily Mail ran a story this morning linking Chelsea to Atletico Madrid's 17 year old midfielder Oliver Torres. That in and of itself probably means very little. Madrid based paper Marca is also running with the story though, and that is a little more noteworthy. While Marca have a bad reputation of putting a slant on many of their articles, this one seems to be pretty straightforward. They're simply claiming that Chelsea have interest in signing the 17 year old and that Atletico seem to want to match the offer in terms of wages.

Torres is a very solid young midfield prospect with a very similar skillset to the newly signed Oscar. I'm sure any club in the world would be absolutely thrilled to have him, so Chelsea's reported interest should come as no surprise. With the willingness to spend on youth lately, this is probably a situation that will bear some watching as well. Should Torres feel tempted to join Chelsea instead of remaining at Atletico, his current club may well have little choice but to negotiate. It's certainly worth watching, so we'll definitely do just that. For now, I'll just give you a quick video of Torres against Barca's youngsters. Enjoy:
