Chelsea U18's destroy Torquay United 12-1

The Chelsea youth played a friendly today at Cobham in a torrential downpour, but the rain seemingly had no effect on the Chelsea youngsters. Chelsea got on top early by goals from Jordan Houghton and Ismail Seremba before Torquay managed to draw themselves back within a goal. From the Torquay goal on, it was all Chelsea. Walter Figueroa, Jeremie Boga, Figueroa again, and then Joao Rodrigues put Chelsea up 6-1 heading into the half.

Chelsea swapped out their entire 11 heading into the second half, but the results remained largely the same. The scoring went Chike Kandi, George Cole, Kandi again, Isak Ssewankambo, Charley Musonda, and Kandi for a third time to end the rout.

It's hard to take too much from the first friendly in the year in such terrible conditions, but wow. Joao Rodrigues and Charley Musonda really drew rave reviews, and in a performance like this one that says something. The U21's are in action soon, so we'll have a wrap of that one for you later on as well. If some video becomes available of this drubbing I'll make sure to have it up for you asap.
