Bayer Leverkusen leave the door open on moving Andre Schurrle

We've been talking about Andre Schurrle a lot today, and now we have some new comments from Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Wolfgang Holzhauser. According to to Holzhauser:

I am not keen on ruling anything out at any point in time, but personally I have laid this topic to full rest last weekend. Of course, we have seriously considered the offer. We did. Still we came to the conclusion we would be unable to sign an adequate and affordable replacement for Andre Schurrle.

Well, that seems fairly reasonable. I don't want to read too much into it, but he's definitely not saying that Schurrle won't be available at any price. I could also see some speculation developing that a loan deal for a guy like Kevin De Bruyne might be a sweetener in getting a deal done. After all, that would seem an ideal location for the young Belgian to get some more first team experience.

It will be interesting to see how Chelsea responds, as frankly a few million pounds really shouldn't be a major deterrent if they feel Schurrle will be a long term part here at the Bridge. Then again, we've yet to go back with an improved bid for Victor Moses, so maybe we were just testing the waters. This one looks like it might drag out for a bit, so strap yourselves in for another fun summer.
