The longer that summer goes on, the less likely it looks that Chelsea FC will actually make a move for Hulk. We've gone from an "imminent signing", to personal terms being agreed with only the fee left to decide, to today's news that there has been no contact yet with the player. When asked about a move to Chelsea today, Hulk had the following to say:
I haven't talked to anyone. As everyone knows, I don't follow negotiations closely as that will make me lose my focus. I let my agent deal with that stuff
Well, that seems pretty cut and dry. This does not mean Chelsea haven't had talks with either Porto or Hulk's agent, but it does appear that we aren't as close to signing Hulk as the papers would have had us believe. Frankly, with the Moses and Schurrle bids we've tabled i'd be surprised if Hulk was anywhere near the top of our wishlist at this point.
It's entirely possible that Chelsea will come back to Hulk, as our initial bids for both Moses and Schurrle were not accepted. It's pretty clear, though, that Chelsea's higher ups feel that Porto are demanding a fairly unreasonable price for the 25 year old Brazilian, something I'd have a hard time disagreeing with. Unless Porto drop their asking price, I don't think Hulk should be holding his breath for a phone call from Chelsea. If they don't do it soon, I'd imagine we'll be out of the market entirely.
