While the defender getting more rest after an injury-hit May, this probably won't affect the club too much. However, it's pretty crappy for Gary Cahill - this was his first chance for a major international tournament, and you'd think that he was hoping to make a major impact. So that's pretty awful. I'm not sure what the hell Dries Mertens was playing at considering it was the 17th minute of a game that didn't matter when he essentially chucked Cahill into Joe Hart, but it's probably ruined the defender's summer.
He'll just have to snuggle his Champions League winners medal or something.
