Recently departed Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has confirmed his move to Shanghai Shenhau, which we all knew was probably going to happen. Chelsea will of course recieve no fee due to the striker's Bosman status - but hey, I'd say the 24 million was money well spent, wouldn't you - and the Ivorian himself can expect to pocket up £200,000 a week at his new club.
I feel that Shanghai Shenhua FC is the right move for me at this time. I am looking forward to a new challenge and to experiencing a new culture, and I am excited about the new developments in the Chinese Super League

The rumour mills have it that Diego Maradona coached Al Wasl was also in the running to nab what could turn out to be one of the best free transfers of all time, but Drogba will instead be linking up with another ex-Argentian manager, Sergio Batista, as well as striking up his former partnership with old teammate Nicolas Anelka.
We knew Drogba was going for a while, of course - he confirmed his departure nearly a month ago - but it really hits home that the powerhouse Ivorian won't be in the Chelsea blue next season with this announcement. Still, it gives Drogba the chance to play a real ambassador role in developing football in a new country, as well as allowing him to snap up lots of dollars which I would presume would go towards the various charity work Drogba conducts, as well as allowing the Ivorian to live out his days in comfort, as he thoroughly deserves to. Good on you Drogba, you'll be a champion wherever you may be.
