Spain v. Ireland, Euro 2012: Lineups/Game Thread

Matt Cain tiki-taka'd his way to a PERFECT GAME yesterday. Beat that, Spain.
Matt Cain tiki-taka'd his way to a PERFECT GAME yesterday. Beat that, Spain.

Spain (4-3-3): Iker Casillas - Jordi Alba, Sergio Ramos, Gerard Pique, Álvaro Arbeloa - Xabi Alonso, Sergio Busquets, Xavi - David Silva, Fernando Torres, Andrés Iniesta

Ireland (4-4-2): Shay Given - Stephen Ward, Richard Dunne, Sean St. Ledger, John O'Shea - Aiden McGeady, Glenn Whelan, Keith Andrews, Damien Duff - Robbie Keane, Simon Cox

It's like beauty versus the beast, Skill and technique and velvet versus good ol' mettle and brawn and dirt. Spain starts with an actual striker this time and it's this little known guy called Fernando Torres. You probably have not heard of him. I think he does really well versus Championship-level competition, so I'm expecting goal, goals, and more goals.

Vamos Fernando!!
