Chelsea centre backs David Luiz and Gary Cahill both returned to full training with the team yesterday as the pair race against time to be fit for the Champions League final, and reports from said training session were extremely positive - the pair were ready to play and the only worry at that point was a negative reaction after being out for so long (David Luiz was injured during the 5-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur on April 15th and Cahill's been out since the 24th).
It looks like we can be even less worried about that happening now - according to Blues News both defenders had another full training session today without any problems, and although they'll be monitored throughout the week we can now be fairly confident that we'll actually have legitimate centre backs for Saturday.
There's no news on Florent Malouda that I'm aware of, so I think assuming the worst there is probably a good idea. Although he's had a very difficult season, it's a shame Malouda will miss the final - he offers a more defensive option on the wing than either Daniel Sturridge or Fernando Torres, one of whom will almost certainly play instead. I'm not sure I would have started Malouda, but it sure would have been nice to be able to.
So, that all said, what lineup would y'all pick for the final? Let us know in the comments!
