Stevan Jovetic is a pretty popular player around these parts, so our rumored interest in him should have a few of you smiling this morning. We know we've been linked to him in the past, and reports out of Italy today suggest that there are still clubs interested in taking Jovetic off of Fiorentina's hands this summer. For those of you unfamiliar to the Montenegro international, here's the profile we had up last January.
While the report doesn't specifically mention Chelsea as an interested party, we know from previous comments out of Florence that Manchester City, Chelsea, and Juventus have interest in Jovetic. Fiorentina are rightfully hesitant to part with their best player, but in a club with the financial troubles they have and no European football, it may be a struggle to hold off the bigger clubs mentioned above. With that in mind, this will be a situation to pay attention to over the course of the summer.
As far as my pure speculation goes, I just can't see City being an option if they've truly got a deal in place with Eden Hazard. I have no idea if Jovetic would prefer remaining in Italy, but I think it's safe to assume that Fiorentina would prefer he went to London rather than Juventus should he move on. Jovetic would be a pretty nice addition to the squad, one of the few that could easily make up for the disappointment of missing out on Eden Hazard. His versatility would also be a very nice thing to have around these parts. This won't be the last we hear about Jovetic this summer, we'll certainly be watching this one closely.
