Odd game at Stamford Bridge so far, but Chelsea lead Benfica 1-0 via a Frank Lampard penalty, won when Ashley Cole was knocked over by Javi Garcia in the penalty box. Benfica are also down to ten men after Maxi Pereira was booked for dissent over the penalty incident and then went in very late on John Obi Mikel, which means Chelsea are in very good shape to make it through to play Barcelona.
Granted, we're playing (not very good) counterattacking football rather than dominating the game, which is making some people unhappy, but it's probably the right move by Roberto di Matteo - we've looked incredibly dangerous on the break and set pieces, and Benfica aren't creating all that much. So, 2-0 on aggregate 75% through the tie. Not too bad.
