Chelsea 6 QPR 1: Blues Win London Derby in Emphatic Style

So that was a bit of a laugher. No wonder the media had to try to (re-)hype the John Terry / Anton Ferdinand story!

Queens Park Rangers waltzed into town...err...into THIS part of town...looking to rain on Chelsea's parade. Actual rain did come with them, soaking the Stamford Bridge pitch into a minor swimming pool. However, in the end, it was us, and most specifically Fernando Torres, who made it rain. His hat-trick was the proverbial cherry on the delicious cake of this most amazing week. That last sentence does not contain the word "rain" and for that, I apologize.

It's a bit of a lazy (yet busy!) Sunday over here in La Casa de DPeezy and yours truly does not currently feel up to the task of stringing more than one or two coherent sentences together. Thus: bullets! Take cover!

• Let's get this out of the way...WHY would the Stamford Bridge crowd insist on booing Anton Ferdinand?! Embarrassing.
• Not that QPR's fans were all that much classier, chanting "let him die" after Mata got blown up by some brute in red-white.
• Speaking of the red-white...QPR's away kit certainly puts our Windows (r) away kit in perspective. Scary.
• The Torres hat-trick is obviously his first in a Chelsea shirt and he's clearly our Man of the Match. Took 8 shots total, and there was even one where I thought he was almost selfish (looking for his third). Hopefully this is now truly "the corner" that had to be turned for Fernando to become a consistently effective member of the squad - especially once we start looking beyond this season.
• Juan Mata was operating to his maximum string-puller capacities, finishing the day with 2 assist, but involved in some capacity in all five goals that were scored while he was on the pitch. Chelsea's form is so much better when the little guy is on song...hopeful both are peaking at the right time of the season.
• Mata's replacement was Florent Malouda. He somehow also scored a goal. Otherwise he looked every part the player who knows that he won't play an important role for Chelsea ever again. We'll always have 2009-10, FloMo.
• Who knew that Daniel Sturridge's right foot had THAT in it?! 46 seconds was all it took for Chelsea to take the lead and settle the tie. It was the perfect beginning. John Terry's header for the second ensured that there would be no let down for Chelsea following the massive result in Barcelona.
• The make-shift back line of Ashley Cole, JT, Jose Bosingwa, and Paulo Ferreira did well, although they were not really under much pressure at all. The Lampard-Essien combo in front of them filtered out most of QPR's danger, although Bosingwa did have a couple nice interceptions and the Phantom to his right had a few nice tackles.
• Speaking of Frank Lampard...5 interceptions today to lead the team and truly reveling lately in his deeper role in the double-pivot. At the moment, it sure looks like this is the way forward for Super Frank to continue to be very much a key part of this team, not just this year, but as his career winds down in the next few years.
• With Tottenham also taking care of business today, Chelsea still sit 6th, although just a single point behind both Spurs and Newcastle...with the latter coming to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. That will be another MUST WIN game, but hey...what's new, right?
• Arsenal are now just 4 points clear of 4th/5th (and just 5 clear of us in 6th) and the chasing pack all have a game in-hand. I'm not saying that they won't finish third...but you know...stranger things HAVE happened...
• Oh...and also...SAM HUTCHINSON! The comeback kid makes his first appearance since 2010. Sooo many feel good stories!
