Ryan Bertrand has started the last several games for Chelsea and done very well for himself in Ashley Cole's absence. That said, there was definitely some concern about how he'd hold up when the level of competition rises to Tottenham, Barcelona, and Arsenal in the near future. For those of you that were worried though, you can breathe a sigh of relief. According to the Chelsea website, Ashley Cole will be fit to return for the FA Cup semifinal this weekend against Tottenham.

While Cole will be starting on Sunday, Oriol Romeu, Ryan Bertrand, and Branislav Ivanovic will all be unavailable for Sunday due to injury, illness, or suspension. There is no word yet on David Luiz, but if he continues to be unavailable it could be a very shallow bench defensively. Expect more of either Jose Bosingwa of Paulo Ferriera, and those two might be the emergency plan in the center of the defense (shudder). Then again, we could be Spurs who will be without Kaboul, Dawson, and King on the weekend.
