If you've been following the site of any length of time, you'll know that we here were big fans of making an incredibly cheeky bid for Manchester United prospect Paul Pogba, who was rumoured to be seeking far increased terms at Old Trafford. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen, but hey, at least United won't get to keep him either, and that's almost as good.
Instead, the 18-year-old is bound for Italy, where he'll join Juventus this summer after signing a pre-contract agreement with the Serie A side. The price? A cool €1M per season, which is a hefty raise from his wages at United. It's a shame we couldn't get hold of Pogba, who is an absolute delight in midfield, but him moving to the Biaconeri is still a big plus for us because it deprives a rival of one of their major young assets.
It's pretty incredible to think that United had two prodigious talents on the books in Ravel Morrison and Pogba, and now they have neither one. This sort of thing happens with prospects, so it's a good reminder to all of us not to count our chickens before they're hatched. Hopefully Chelsea can keep Pogba's rather notorious agent Mino Raiola away from our kids. If he goes anywhere near Josh McEachran we should have Ashley Cole shoot him.
