No, this isn't a rant about how boring possession football is or anything, or how tiresome the love notes written to Barcelona every single day are, or even how annoying the anti-Barcelona brigade is getting. No, it's about David Luiz. Whom they are trying to buy.
Reports of Barcelona interest in David Luiz have strengthened once more following newspaper revelations in both Spain and Portugal that the Catalan giants scouted the defender once more in the Estadio da Luz on Tuesday night.
David Luiz has enjoyed a rocky first year in England, but in recent European games with Napoli and Benfica has come to the fore with fine performances, despite playing second-fiddle in the Premier League.
Now that people are finally getting to grips with just how good David Luiz are, the transfer rumours are inevitable. I strongly suspect these are more than simply rumours, however - Barcelona's interest in the curly-haired centre half dates back to when he was with Benfica and is fairly well documented.
There is a certain point at which it would make economic sense to accept a Barca bid for David Luiz. I understand that. But understand this, Barcelona: If you take my David Luiz from me there will blood. Lots and lots of blood. Not all of it will be mine.
>:(
And yes, I appreciate the irony that this is coming from a Chelsea fan. Bite me.
