Dear Paulo Ferreira

Dear Paulo,

How are you? You looked tired at the Estadio da Luz, and I hope you're feeling better today. You played really hard - you always do, I know - and I bet most of the younger players won't be able to put that much effort in when they're 33. I know you don't get to see the pitch very often these days and that that must be a little bit grating, but I'm sure you understand that you're closer to the end of your career than the beginning and you seem like the sort of guy who'll be there when the team needs you without complaining.

Anyway, I'm writing because lots of Chelsea fans don't seem to like you very much. That's fine, of course. People can think what they like, and having certain opinions doesn't make you any more or less of a fan. I just wanted to let you know that some of us think you're a good player who's done a great deal for this club, and that you're still appreciated by those of us who remember what you were like in your prime.

You're one of the best right backs we've ever had, and I hope that you and the club never forget that.

Much love,

-Graham
