FA Youth Cup semifinal game thread: First leg at Old Trattford

It was an interesting morning for Chelsea fans, as the draw was kind to our club for a change in presenting us Benfica. With the draw behind us though, we can focus on some future stars for the club (hopefully) as the youth team heads north to Manchester to square off in the first leg of the semifinal with Manchester United. This marks the 4th time in 5 seasons which Chelsea has reached this stage of the competition, and a chance to avenge the semifinal defeat at the hands of United a year ago.

For those of you who haven't been watching the tournament, Chelsea have one of the youngest squads involved. Several players are at least reasonably close to first team action, as Jamal Blackman, Lucas Piazon, and Nathaniel Chalobah have all traveled with the senior squad at some point this season. Chalobah and Piazon have actually dressed for the bench as well, and right back Todd Kane is a near certainty for a shot on loan somewhere in the fall.

Also going on at the same time will be a game in the Eredivise which involve a pair of our loanees. Vitesse will be hosting Heracles, and both Patrick van Aanholt and Tomas Kalas (who was on our youth squad last season) are expected to be starting. Feel free to use the comment section to discuss away if you happen to be following that contest as well. Anyway, let's see some good performances today and put ourselves in a good position for the return leg to London. Let's go baby Blues!
